"Inness", single projection. This quietly reflective work seeks to renegotiate the act of being within, the large scale projection is at once both familiar and strange.
“Inness” is the quality of being within, a place where the outside light tells of further possibilities but barely illuminates the present.
A place where the inside, reflects the
lush green of the outside light, barely illuminating the
interior.
This projection although outwardly simple,
seeks to conjure up complex interior questions of the viewer.
It is a reflection on understanding and perceiving the almost
familiar.
This work is influenced by Brian Massumi,
who on finding himself at his desk one day realised that
he had negotiated the route to his desk not by visual memory
but by a an orientation that has more to do with tropism.
"Inness" asks the viewer to
rethink what it is to be within.
